Why Wayusa?
Out of the Jungle
Wayusa grows deep in the Ecuadorian rainforest. There, it is hand-harvested by Kichwa families and traditionally consumed together before sunrise. The leaves are carefully collected and gently processed. This results in a tea that preserves its original origin.

What our Wayusa fans say
Agustin from the Kichwa tribe.
Augustin Allpa Grefa is the tribal leader of the Kichwa in Ecuador, born and raised in the Ecuadorian Amazon. The rainforest is his home and his teacher.
He knows every tree, every path, every animal, and every plant. Together with his family and the community of his tribe, he collects our Wayusa wild, by hand, deep in the jungle, just as his ancestors have done for generations.
Augustin has been our partner, friend, and healer in the jungle for several years.
When you open a bag of Wayusa from YOMERA, you hold something in your hands that he and his community have gathered with ancient knowledge, respect, and true tradition.
From the heart of the Amazon, directly to you.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How does Wayusa taste?
Wayusa has a pleasantly soft, slightly earthy flavor with a gentle herbal note. Compared to coffee, it is significantly milder and less bitter because it is alkaline. Many describe it as "clear," "round," and very easy to digest, without the grassy note that some green teas have.
What benefits does Wayusa have for me?
Wayusa contains naturally occurring caffeine and is traditionally valued in Ecuador as a morning ritual drink. Many people drink it as an alternative to coffee because it is perceived as gentler and more balanced. It is particularly well-suited for moments when you want to start the day clear and focused, without the typical coffee feeling.
Who is Wayusa not suitable for?
Due to its naturally high caffeine content, Wayusa is not suitable for children, pregnant, or breastfeeding women. If you are sensitive to caffeine, we recommend starting with a smaller amount.
Until when should I drink Wayusa tea?
Augustín from the Kichwa community recommends drinking Wayusa by around 6 PM at the latest. After that, the body should wind down. Since Wayusa contains natural caffeine, it also depends on your personal sensitivity.
"Wildsammlung" bedeutet die Sammlung von Pflanzen, Kräutern oder anderen natürlichen Ressourcen aus der freien Natur, anstatt sie in kultivierten oder kontrollierten Umgebungen anzubauen. Es wird oft in Bezug auf die Ernte von Wildpflanzen für kulinarische, medizinische oder andere Zwecke verwendet.
Wild harvesting means that the leaves do not come from plantations or monocultures. Our Wayusa grows in natural mixed forests in the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest and is collected there by hand. This helps to maintain the ecological balance of the forest — without industrial agriculture, artificial cultivation structures, or pesticides.
How often can you brew Wayusa?
The dried Wayusa leaves are very rich and can therefore be boiled twice.
