The Amazon is more than just a place

The Amazon is one of the most important and biodiverse ecosystems on Earth. It is home and livelihood for millions of plants and animals. Its forests store large amounts of carbon, influence the global climate, and contribute significantly to our planet's water cycle. For indigenous communities, the rainforest is far more than nature – it is home, teacher, and livelihood all at once. For generations, they have preserved a deep knowledge of the plants, animals, and interconnections of the forest. Protecting the Amazon therefore means not only preserving a unique ecosystem, but also protecting the cultures and people who have lived in harmony with it for centuries.

Why the Amazon needs our support

The Amazon and its inhabitants face major challenges today. Year after year, vast areas of forest are destroyed for cattle ranching, agriculture, road construction, and raw material extraction. In particular, increasing deforestation and illegal gold mining activities leave deep scars on nature and endanger rivers, animal species, and entire habitats. At the same time, indigenous communities are increasingly pressured to defend their traditional territories, culture, and way of life.

With every lost piece of rainforest, not only valuable nature disappears, but also millennia-old knowledge about plants, healing traditions, and living in harmony with the environment. Protecting the Amazon therefore means much more than nature conservation. It is also a contribution to the preservation of cultural diversity, traditional ways of life, and one of the most important lifelines of our planet.

Supporting rainforest and cultural projects helps to preserve these unique communities and their habitat for future generations.

THE FOREST IS DISAPPEARING

Large parts of the Amazon are cleared every year. With the forest, habitats, biodiversity, and valuable knowledge of indigenous peoples disappear.

GREED FOR GOLD

Gold miners are penetrating deeper and deeper into the rainforest. Forests are being destroyed, rivers polluted, and indigenous communities threatened in their existence.

THE PRICE OF DESTRUCTION

Vast forest areas are being cleared for mineral resources, timber, and new pastures. What remains are destroyed ecosystems and irretrievably lost nature.
